Since welcoming our first residents back in 1973, Sunset Communities has been committed to providing quality services to senior adults in a spirit of Christian love. Our mission – the heart of Sunset – is the foundation of every action we take.
In this blog, we’d like to introduce – or reintroduce for some – Sunset Senior Communities, our mission and how its guided us these last five decades.
More Than a Place to Live
Prior to the existence of Sunset Communities, conversations regarding its creation were centered around providing a beacon where seniors felt valued, connected, and well cared for.
Our founders knew that in order to provide this level of patient-centered care, the focus needed to extend beyond just a successful business model; this is what led to the creation of our mission: to provide quality services to senior adults in a spirit of Christian love.
From there, we grew. What started as one assisted living, owned & operated by local area churches, is now three campuses, two service lines, and multiple partnerships. And while we’ve experienced immense change over the last five decades, our mission and the dedication we have to maintain that mission remain as strong as ever.

Our Campuses
Where we welcomed our first residents back in 1973! Designed to accommodate a wide array of needs, Manor & Villages proudly offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care.
Opening in 2009, Waterford Place is our newest campus, and its final phase was completed in 2022. Known for its stunning grounds, abundant activities, and convenient amities, Waterford Place offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care.
Joining the Sunset family in 2013, Rose Garden provides assisted living services that encourage residents to confidently age-in-place in a safe, home-like atmosphere.
Our Services
The quality care Sunset is known for, right in the comfort of your own home! Sunset at Home was created back in 2003 with the goal of providing high-quality, trusted in-home senior care.
Meals at Home delivers chef-prepared meals to homebound individuals throughout the West Michigan community. Our volunteer drivers deliver meals 365 days per year!

More about living! Our partner in care – Emmanuel Hospice – provides care and support that allows our residents to confidently age in place. Emmanuel Hospice gives our residents (and their families) the opportunity to make the most of every moment at the end of life.
